I am a qualified and experienced translator and proof reader, member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (MCIL) and as such approved by the Greek Embassy in London.
I have been a translator in various fields (medical, law, public service, government documents, certificates, HMRC, DVLA and Home Office documents, police records, news/politics, EU, surveys, questionnaires, advertisements/transcreation, navy, subtitling films and documentaries) since 1997.
I have worked for various companies including the Macedonian Press Association, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece, the Hampshire Constabulary, the Language Export Centre, Choice Language Services, The Big Word, K-International, Synovate Healthcare, Hogarth, Blue Lines as well as private clients.
I have been working as a freelance film translator (subtitler) since 2001 for companies such as Softitler, Glocal Media and Mostra Communications.
I have also been teaching Greek, general conversation and business/specialized, mainly on a one-to-one basis since 2000.
I have worked for acclaimed, well-established language tuition companies such as Polyglot (Portsmouth), Language Specialists International (Portsmouth), Meta4 (Southampton), Bi-Lingua (Southampton) and Plato Academy (Southampton).
I have two MA degrees in Translation and Media Studies (both awarded with distinction) at the University of Portsmouth and Southampton Institute respectively. Moreover, I was entrusted by the University of Portsmouth and the University of Westminster , in London , with the creation and development of a new and unique unit on subtitling, where I was in charge of the preparation of all unit material (theoretical and audiovisual) and student assessment. I was also teaching the theory and practice of translation at the University of Portsmouth .
